[ INTERVIEW:01 ]

What made you decide to have a shooting with me?

I saw one of Masa's work on instagram while scrolling all the way back in 2023 and automatically saved the post and followed him. I kept checking his broadcast channel regarding photoshoots, in case I ever have the chance to go to Japan.

Luckily, I've been wanting to do a special shoot that's different from the ones I usually do, and I saw that he was coming to Taiwan. Before thinking much, I quickly booked with him.

Tell me what you like living in Taipei?

I used to live in the US all my life until about 9 years ago. I remember I've always loved visiting Taipei during every summer and winter vacation because I get to see my grandma and other relatives. Also I've always enjoyed asian culture, so I had a lot of fun as a kid and teen when I came back.

Moving to Taipei, I'm happy I got to spend time with my family and right now, I'm glad I met so many wonderful friends. I spent my entire 20s to start of my 30s here, so I went through many experiences that I believe contributed to who I am today. Aside from that, everything is super convenient and I'm finally able to fulfill my dream of having my own dog. It feels like my home at last.

How did you like the shooting with me overall?

I really enjoyed meeting and shooting with Masa! Even though I didn't have a theme in mind and prepared last minute, he was so helpful and fun. The shoot was like meeting a new friend and also breaking a bit out of my comfort zone.
I'm like the type of person who follows directions, always looking at the map, afraid to stray off the path, but he showed me that sometimes it's nice to just go places without a plan and from that you discover many surprising wonderful things.

He also chose many shooting spots that I didn't expect, and all of them turned out really lovely. Masa really has a great eye for photography and aesthetics, I'm happy that I chose to have him shoot and taking me around the streets I've never been to.

【大事にしていること】

一番大事にしているのは、写真の上手さよりも「撮影を楽しんでもらう」ことです。

何年か経って写真を見返した時に、「いい写真だな」で終わらずに、「あの日は本当に楽しかった」と思い出してもらえたら。
だから、綺麗な写真を届けて終わりにはしたくない。撮影の時間そのものを、心から楽しんでもらえる時間にしたいんです。

写真という手段で、あなたの人生の美しさを伝えたい。そんな想いでシャッターを切っています。


【まさについて】

名前は豊田正宗（とよだ まさむね）、みんなからは「まさ」と呼ばれています。

兵庫県で生まれ育ち、17歳のときに単身でアメリカへ渡りました。カメラを初めて手にしたのもこの頃です。
帰国してからラブグラフと出会い、最初は写真教室とフォトグラファーのコミュニティを運営していました。2023年に会社員を辞めて、専業のフォトグラファーになりました。

打ち合わせも撮影も、英語のままで大丈夫です。海外からのご依頼も年に数回いただいています。


【撮影しているもの】

カップル、夫婦、前撮り、結婚式当日、プロポーズ、ファミリー、フレンズフォト、おひとりでのプロフィール撮影を撮っています。
いちばん多いのはカップルで、全体の8割ほど。最近は前撮りと家族写真も増えてきました。

ポーズを決めてもらうというより、話したり歩いたり遊んだりしている時間を、そのまま切り取っていくスタイルです。


【撮影している場所】

東京を拠点にしていますが、呼んでもらえれば日本のどこへでも行きます。
これまでによく撮ってきたのは、東京、北海道、京都、富士山周辺、伊豆、鎌倉、箱根、四国、沖縄、尾道あたりです。

海外は、香港、台湾、オーストラリア（シドニー・パース）、アメリカ（ハワイ・ロサンゼルス・サンフランシスコ・シアトル・ニューヨーク）、イギリス（ロンドン）、フランス（パリ）、スイス。
香港へは毎年12月に通っています。


【撮影の進め方】

撮影の前に、一度ビデオ通話で話す時間をつくっています。
場所や当日の流れを決めるのはもちろんですが、いちばんの目的はお互いのことを知ること。一度話しておくと、当日リラックスして臨んでもらえます。僕も、みなさんの話を聞けるのが毎回楽しみです！

「写真、苦手なんです」と言う方がほとんどですが、練習も準備も要りません。カメラのことを忘れて楽しんでもらえたら、それが一番いい写真になります。


【機材】

デジタルは Sony α7 IV と α7 V。
フィルムは Leica M6 と Fujifilm Klasse W を使っています。
